Our client, a well-established international financial institution with a strong presence in Europe, is currently seeking a Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to join their Frankfurt branch. This is a critical second-line compliance role, ideal for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in German AML regulations and a proactive approach to financial crime risk management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the appointed MLRO under §7 GwG, serving as the main liaison with BaFin and the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
  • Lead the development and execution of the AML/CTF compliance framework in line with German and EU regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular AML risk assessments and ensure appropriate controls are in place.
  • Oversee transaction monitoring, investigations, and the timely filing of suspicious activity reports (SARs).
  • Deliver AML/CTF training and awareness programs across the organization.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior management on emerging risks and regulatory changes.
  • Prepare and present AML/CTF reports to the board and relevant committees.
  • Support internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance reviews.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in AML/CTF compliance within the banking or financial services sector.
  • Strong knowledge of German AML laws (GwG, KWG) and familiarity with BaFin expectations.
  • Proven track record in managing regulatory relationships and leading AML investigations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluency in German and English is essential.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, CFE) are advantageous.
