Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Managing Actuarial Consultant to join our dynamic actuarial consulting team. This individual will play a key role in managing and advising on Medicaid plans for our clients, while also providing traditional actuarial consulting services across various industries. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Medicaid, health care, and actuarial consulting, combined with excellent leadership and client management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage actuarial consulting projects related to Medicaid programs, working closely with clients to provide expert guidance and solutions.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of Medicaid rate setting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes.
- Advise clients on strategic decision-making related to Medicaid plan management, including risk management and cost control strategies.
- Work on a range of traditional actuarial consulting assignments, such as financial projections, pricing, and reserving.
- Manage client relationships, ensuring high-quality service delivery and the identification of new opportunities for further engagements.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior actuarial staff, supporting their professional development and technical skills.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, particularly in the context of Medicaid plans.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive solutions that meet client needs.
- Contribute to business development activities, including preparing proposals, presenting to prospective clients, and expanding the firm's market presence.
Qualifications:
- ASA or FSA or equivalent actuarial designation required.
- 5+ years of actuarial experience, including substantial experience with Medicaid programs and health insurance.
- Strong technical expertise in actuarial modeling, financial projections, pricing, and reserving.
- Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and lead consulting projects.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex actuarial concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in actuarial software and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with programming languages such as R or Python is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- A track record of successfully delivering consulting engagements on time and within budget.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with Medicaid health plans or other government-funded health programs.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulatory frameworks and policy trends.
- Prior experience in business development or proposal writing.
