Lead Filings Actuary

This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to take real responsibility for a commercial rate filing function-not just executing filings, but helping shape and improve the overall program. You'll own end-to-end rate filings across multiple commercial lines while driving improvements in data quality, process efficiency, and consistency.

This role is well suited for someone who likes structure, accountability, and building cleaner, more reliable workflows-and who wants to make a visible impact in a critical, highly cross-functional area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the full rate filing lifecycle across multiple commercial lines, including General Liability, Commercial Auto, Workers' Compensation, and Cyber.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for commercial rate filings, ensuring submissions are accurate, complete, consistent, and aligned with internal standards and business objectives.
  • Partner closely with actuarial/pricing, underwriting, product, and data teams to gather assumptions, documentation, and supporting exhibits.
  • Identify opportunities to improve how filings are prepared, reviewed, tracked, and reported; help evolve and modernize the overall filing program.
  • Strengthen data integrity by improving validation processes, identifying gaps or inconsistencies, and reducing downstream rework.
  • Build and streamline reporting to improve visibility into filing status, timelines, and outcomes.
  • Help standardize templates, documentation, and workflows to improve efficiency and repeatability.
  • Maintain appropriate controls and confidentiality around sensitive data and regulatory materials.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Completion of five or more Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams.
  • Six or more years of experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
  • Three or more years of hands-on experience with commercial lines rate filings.
  • Strong SQL skills, including writing queries, extracting data, and performing table joins.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and moderately complex formulas.
  • Solid understanding of common data structures and controls.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of processes, and drive improvements.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience filing rates for General Liability and Commercial Auto.
  • Broader multi-line commercial filings exposure, including Workers' Compensation and Cyber.
  • Experience using VBA or other automation tools to improve reporting or workflow efficiency.
  • Demonstrated experience building, improving, or standardizing a rate filing process or program.
  • Hybrid, in-office presence preferred, though remote arrangements may be considered.

What This Role Offers

  • High visibility and ownership over a core regulatory and pricing-related function.
  • A blend of technical, analytical, and process-improvement work.
  • The opportunity to meaningfully influence how commercial rate filings are executed and managed across the organization.
