A leading global financial advisory firm is seeking a highly motivated Investment Banking Associate to join its Restructuring team in Germany. The group advises corporates, creditors, financial sponsors, and stakeholders on complex special situations, balance sheet challenges, and transformational strategic events across Europe.
The Role
As an Associate, you will play an integral role in project execution, working closely with senior bankers on high‑profile, cross‑border mandates. You will support the delivery of independent strategic and financial advice across the full spectrum of restructuring and special situations, including:
- Financial restructuring and recapitalisation
- Distressed M&A and contingency planning
- Independent business reviews and liquidity analysis
- Capital structure advisory and liability management
- Strategic alternative assessments for companies facing operational or financial stress

Key Responsibilities
- Build robust financial models, including integrated 3‑statement, liquidity, and covenant analysis
- Perform deep-dive financial and operational diagnostics
- Prepare high‑quality client materials including pitchbooks, situation analyses, and board presentations
- Support negotiation processes with lenders, investors, rating agencies, and other stakeholders
- Collaborate with senior team members in the execution of live mandates and business development initiatives
- Conduct market, industry, and comparable company research to support advisory recommendations
Candidate Profile
- 3-5 years of experience in investment banking, financial restructuring, leveraged finance, transaction advisory, or a closely related field
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills; comfort handling complex capital structures
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present clearly and confidently
- Fluent written and spoken English; German language skills strongly preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams in fast‑paced environments
- A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working on challenging, time‑critical transactions
