Overview
A leading and highly respected institutional hedge fund investor is seeking to hire for its London-based Equity Manager Selection team. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, evaluating and monitoring external equity hedge fund managers globally. The role sits within a dedicated investment team that allocates capital across a broad spectrum of equity-oriented hedge fund strategies, including Fundamental Long/Short Equity, TMT, Healthcare, Consumer, Industrials, Equity Market Neutral, Quantitative Equity and Sector-Specialist strategies. This is a highly research-driven role involving extensive interaction with portfolio managers, deep fundamental manager due diligence, idea generation and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, research and evaluate equity hedge fund managers globally.
- Conduct detailed investment due diligence on prospective and existing managers.
- Assess investment processes, portfolio construction methodologies, research frameworks and risk management disciplines.
- Meet regularly with portfolio managers, analysts and senior investment professionals to evaluate investment capability and team quality.
- Analyse portfolio holdings, exposures, concentration, factor risks, alpha generation and performance attribution.
- Develop investment recommendations and present findings to internal investment committees.
- Monitor existing hedge fund investments and identify changes in team structure, investment process or risk profile.
- Build and maintain deep relationships across the global equity hedge fund community.
- Track emerging managers, team spin-outs and new fund launches.
- Contribute to portfolio construction and capital allocation decisions across the equity hedge fund portfolio.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have experience analysing, investing with, or conducting due diligence on equity hedge fund managers.

Requirements
- 5-12+ years of relevant investment experience.
- Strong understanding of equity hedge fund strategies and investment processes.
- Ability to evaluate stock selection, portfolio construction and risk-adjusted returns.
- Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative investment due diligence.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Genuine passion for financial markets, equities and hedge fund investing.
- CFA, CAIA or equivalent qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
