A leading global financial institution is expanding its London-based Metals, Mining, and Commodities banking platform and is seeking a Director-level hire, though top-performing VPs with strong deal pedigree are also encouraged to apply.
This is a rare opportunity to join an established, high-performing team with significant growth ambitions in a strategically important sector. The platform already covers many of the world's top metals, mining, and commodity houses, and is looking to deepen and broaden its client footprint.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead origination and execution of transactions across M&A, structured lending, and project finance within the Metals, Mining & Commodities space.
- Drive client engagement, maintain senior relationships, and proactively originate new opportunities.
- Play a central role in structuring complex, cross‑border transactions spanning acquisitions, growth capital, project development, and strategic financing.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across product and sector teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Mentor and guide junior team members while fostering a highly collaborative team culture.
- Represent the platform externally as a senior, client-facing ambassador for the franchise.
Candidate Profile:
- Currently at a global investment bank in a Metals & Mining, Commodities, or Natural Resources-focused team.
- Essential experience in Metals, Mining, and/or Commodities.
- Strong track record in M&A, complemented by experience across lending and/or project finance.
- Not seeking "pure" project finance bankers-must bring a strategic, commercial, and origination-focused mindset.
- Proven ability to build and maintain senior client relationships; existing industry connectivity is highly desirable.
- Confident, commercial, and entrepreneurial-comfortable operating with a hunter mentality.
- Equity-side experience or exposure to equity stories and valuation work is a strong plus.
- Must be seasoned, client-ready, and able to hit the ground running.
- Strong collaborative approach and ability to work seamlessly within a growing, dynamic team environment.
- Fluency in one or more European languages is a plus.
