Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious Equity Research Analyst to join our Hong Kong-based TMT research team. The role will focus on coverage of companies across the technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) sector, with a particular emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI), cloud infrastructure, semiconductors, and data centre ecosystems.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality investment research to institutional clients, generating differentiated insights, and supporting client engagement through clear and timely communication of ideas.
Key Responsibilities
Research & Analysis
- Develop and maintain financial models and valuation frameworks for TMT companies, with a focus on AI-driven business models and data centre value chains
- Analyse industry trends including AI adoption, hyperscaler capex, semiconductor demand, and data centre infrastructure expansion
- Track key developments across Greater China, Asia-Pacific, and global TMT markets
- Produce initiation reports, earnings previews/reviews, thematic research, and ad-hoc commentary
- Generate actionable investment ideas supported by robust fundamental analysis
Industry Coverage
- Monitor companies across:
- AI platforms and applications
- Cloud service providers and hyperscalers
- Semiconductor and hardware suppliers
- Data centre operators and infrastructure providers
- Build expertise in emerging AI technologies, regulatory developments, and capital investment cycles
Client Engagement
- Communicate investment views to institutional clients (asset managers, hedge funds, sovereign funds)
- Participate in client meetings, roadshows, and conference calls
- Respond to client queries with timely, data-driven insights
Collaboration
- Work closely with regional and global research teams
- Partner with sales and trading teams to support client engagement
- Contribute to cross-sector thematic research (e.g., AI productivity, digital infrastructure investment cycles)
Requirements
Experience
- 2-6 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, consulting, or asset management
- Prior experience covering TMT, technology, or infrastructure sectors preferred
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- CFA qualification (completed or in progress) is a plus
Skills & Competencies
- Strong financial modelling and valuation skills
- Deep interest in AI, cloud computing, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure
- Ability to translate complex technical trends into investment insights
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Mandarin is an advantage
- High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
