Manager, Internal Audit (Healthcare)
A rapidly growing, not-for-profit healthcare system in the Southeast is seeking an experienced Internal Audit leader to oversee and expand its Audit Services function. This organization is investing heavily in growth, with multiple new facilities, service line expansions, and major capital projects underway.
This is a net-new leadership role, offering strong visibility to executive leadership and the ability to shape audit strategy in a dynamic, evolving environment.
The Opportunity
This individual will lead the day-to-day operations of the Internal Audit function, providing oversight across financial, operational, and IT audits while serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.
You will play a key role in:
- Identifying and assessing enterprise-wide financial and operational risks
- Enhancing internal controls and governance frameworks
- Partnering with leadership to improve processes and mitigate risk
- Driving execution of a forward-looking, risk-based audit plan
This is a highly visible position where you will set the tone for the audit function, influence decision-making, and support continued organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage audit engagements across financial, operational, and IT domains
- Oversee risk assessments and development of the annual audit plan
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, compliance, and financial reporting processes
- Provide advisory support to senior leadership on risk mitigation and control design
- Deliver clear, actionable insights through executive-level reporting
- Build and mentor a high-performing audit team
- Drive continuous improvement in audit methodology and tools
Ideal Background
- 5+ years of internal audit experience within healthcare (payer or provider)
- CPA or CIA
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory environments
- Experience across financial, operational, and/or IT audit
- Proven ability to operate in a complex, high-growth organization
- Prior public accounting experience and exposure to data analytics or ERP systems (eg. Epic, ACL) preferred
