Roles & Responsibilities:
- Stay abreast on the maritime laws as laid down in the country in which one practices, as well as a general understanding of the various international conventions ratified by states across the globe
- Aid clients on ship finance matters
- Interpret international legislation
- Advise on charter-parties, insurance policies, ship-building, repair and conversion contracts, rights and liabilities
- Mediate and advice on disputes arising from casualties, arrests, salvage, contracts and accidents
- Administer legal plans and actions to ensure compliance with written standards and procedure
Skills and Qualifications Required:
- A Bachelors of Law (LLB) , Masters (LLM) or Juris Doctor (JD) in Marine Law or Arbitration
- 5 to 10+ years PQE, called to bar in Singapore/UK/Australia/US or any commonwealth jurisdictions equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of private practice experience is essential
- Relevant in-house experience/secondments in shipping companies, commodities firms is advantageous
- Strong analytic and reasoning abilities, and stakeholder engagement
- Dynamic, Self-Starter and an international outlook
