Job Overview
A leading energy trading firm is seeking a Transmission Analyst to join its dynamic team in Houston, Texas. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong technical background and a passion for optimizing transmission systems to support strategic trading activities. The ideal candidate will have / had direct experience working at an ISO within their modeling team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct electrical flow studies using automated tools to analyze transmission paths and identify opportunities for optimization and speculative trades.
- Provide actionable recommendations to support trading strategies and ensure reliable power delivery.
- Analyze and disseminate information on transmission issues including siting, interconnections, service requests, development activities, and strategic planning
- Support trading and operations teams with insights on transmission system impacts and opportunities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, or equivalent operational experience
- Advanced degree in a technical field is highly desirable
- 4-6 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years focused on transmission systems planning or operations, and ISO market operations
- Proficiency with automated load flow tools and systems
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
