Site Reliability Engineer
An elite proprietary trading firm in Chicago is seeking a Production Support Engineer to join their team. This group plays a critical role in maintaining and scaling high-performance, low-latency trading systems. Working closely with trading, development, and operations teams, you will be responsible for deploying, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing infrastructure to improve system reliability, performance, and automation.
About the role:
- Lead technical efforts supporting high-frequency trading environments, resolving complex issues under pressure.
- Oversee deployment, monitoring, and performance of proprietary trading applications.
- Drive incident analysis and automation initiatives to improve system reliability and efficiency.
- Coordinate rollouts of new trading products and exchange integrations, ensuring operational readiness.
- Architect resilient services and enforce performance standards across trading infrastructure.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define best practices and ensure production stability.
- Set configuration and deployment standards to support scalability and minimize risk.
- Manage colocation strategy to ensure redundancy and capacity for growth.
- Automate infrastructure processes while maintaining control over critical operations.
What you'll need:
- Bachelors Degree in computer science or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience as an SRE or Production Support Engineer
- Experience managing distributed systems in Linux environments, with strong knowledge of networking, build systems, and version control.
- Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python) and CI/CD tools for automation.
- Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Working knowledge of maintaining Kubernetes clusters in on-premise environments.
- Proven ability to drive system improvements and collaborate across global teams.
Bonus:
- Experience in high-frequency trading environments is a plus, but not required.
- No prior finance experience necessary-comprehensive onboarding will provide all relevant business knowledge.
This role must sit in the firms Chicago office working in a hybrid model of 3 days a week on site.
