Consumer Credit Operations Manager - Collections

A fast-growing fintech is looking for a Consumer Credit Operations Manager to manage collections and recoveries operations, including oversight of foreclosure processes and external legal partners. This role involves leading a team focused on delinquent accounts and post-default recoveries, optimizing performance metrics like charge-off saves and liquidation timelines.

Candidates should have 7+ years of experience in credit servicing, collections, or recoveries, including at least 3 years managing teams or operational units. It's ideal for someone with deep experience in mortgage servicing, HELOCs, and debt collection regulations, who's also comfortable managing vendors and offshore teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coach collections staff to improve borrower engagement, repayment plans, and settlement outcomes.
  • Oversee external legal partners to ensure timely and compliant recovery actions on defaulted accounts.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and implement strategies to enhance recovery rates and reduce liquidation timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant consumer protection, debt collection, and foreclosure regulations.
  • Partner with internal teams (Risk, Compliance, Servicing) to strengthen controls and refine collections strategy.
  • Provide reporting and insights to senior leadership on delinquency trends and operational performance.
  • Continuously improve workflows, vendor oversight, and technology tools to enhance efficiency and borrower outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in credit servicing, collections, or recoveries, with at least 3 years in a leadership or unit manager role.
  • Strong understanding of foreclosure processes, debt collection regulations, and home equity servicing.
  • Proven success managing offshore teams and external vendors.
  • Analytical and process-driven, with the ability to turn portfolio insights into actionable strategies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
