Role Summary
An established insurance advisory firm is seeking a Principal Actuarial Consultant - Risk & Strategy to lead high-impact actuarial and cross-functional consulting engagements. This role focuses on reserving, retention analysis, risk modeling, and product innovation for a diverse client base including insurers, MGAs, self-insured entities, and Insurtechs.
This is a senior-level opportunity for an actuary with deep industry experience and a passion for solving complex challenges through data-driven insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee actuarial projects involving:
- Reserve evaluations
- Self-insured retention and funding studies
- Simulation and modeling of risk exposure
- Product development and strategy
- Conduct peer reviews of actuarial work and provide quality assurance
- Develop creative exhibits and explanatory materials for regulatory filings
- Analyze competitive intelligence and present findings in actionable formats
- Prepare client proposals and manage project scoping
- Communicate directly with clients to define objectives and deliver results
- Draft clear, professional reports and presentations
- Stay informed on industry trends and evolving actuarial methodologies
- Manage client invoicing and project financials
Qualifications
- 10+ years of actuarial experience in the Property/Casualty sector
- ACAS or FCAS designation required
- Strong background in Captives and/or Self-Insured Entities.
- Creative and strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and mentor junior staff
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
