Private Credit Associate
A Middle Market Private Credit shop located in South, FL is looking to add on an Associate to their team. The firm manages north of $10 Billion in AUM and focuses on a Direct Lending strategy but also does some work within Opportunistic Credit as well. The individual would ideally start this Summer and would have the chance to stay on long term with the firm, assuming good performance. The ideal candidate would have 2+ years of Investment Banking experience within M&A, Lev-Fin, or FIG. The firm would also consider someone coming from a Private Credit Analyst role as well. Responsibilities
- Support senior investment professionals across the full credit investment lifecycle, including origination, underwriting, execution, and portfolio monitoring
- Build and maintain detailed financial models, including cash flow analyses, credit metrics, downside cases, and covenant sensitivity analyses
- Conduct thorough due diligence on prospective investments, including business, financial, industry, and sponsor analysis
- Prepare investment memos, credit committee materials, lender presentations, and internal reporting
- Assist in structuring debt investments across capital structures, including unitranche, first lien, second lien, mezzanine, and preferred equity
- Monitor portfolio companies post‑close, including financial performance, covenant compliance, and ongoing credit risk assessment
- Work closely with private equity sponsors, management teams, legal counsel, and third-party advisors
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience at the start of the role in Investment Banking (M&A,Leveraged Finance, or FIG), Private Credit, Direct Lending, or Credit Investing
- Strong financial modeling and credit analysis skills, with experience evaluating leverage, liquidity, and downside risk
- Solid understanding of debt structures, credit documentation, and capital markets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate investment risks and returns
- High level of attention to detail and strong analytical judgment
- Self‑starter with the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast‑paced environment
- Demonstrated interest in building a long-term career in private credit or alternative credit investing
- Bachelor's degree from a strong academic institution
