AVP Actuary - Health Solutions
Are you a seasoned actuary with a passion for health reinsurance and innovative risk solutions? Our client, a leading global reinsurer, is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Actuary to join their Health Solutions team. This is a high-impact role focused on pricing, underwriting, and strategic collaboration with clients across the healthcare spectrum.
About the Role
As AVP, Actuary, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial success of the Health Solutions business through the development and implementation of compelling reinsurance solutions. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders and external clients to model, analyze, and execute reinsurance treaties that align with strategic goals and risk profiles.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Analysis & Support (60%)
- Build and maintain pricing models for profit testing, capital analysis, and risk evaluation.
- Underwrite and assess pricing risks across health markets including Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and Commercial Health.
- Aggregate and analyze data for experience studies and profitability assessments.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support pricing and risk evaluation processes.
Business Management & Collaboration (25%)
- Support marketing efforts for structured reinsurance solutions.
- Partner with clients to enhance performance and deliver tailored solutions.
- Lead documentation and underwriting meetings for new business.
- Mentor actuarial associates and interns, fostering technical growth.
Actuarial Research (10%)
- Stay ahead of regulatory and industry developments to ensure solution relevance.
Ad-Hoc Projects (5%)
- Contribute to departmental initiatives and cross-functional projects.
What You Bring
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA).
- Strong actuarial experience, preferably in health or reinsurance.
- Strong communication skills and ability to tailor complex concepts to varied audiences.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of Value-Based Care and Accountable Care Organizations.
Preferred:
- Programming experience in R, VBA, SQL.
- Familiarity with Risk Agility modeling software.
- Understanding of US Statutory and GAAP, Solvency II, IFRS17.
