Known for its collaborative culture and technical excellence, the firm is seeking a highly skilled Tax Director to lead its tax provision practice and manage a robust book of 25+ clients.
Position Overview:
This role is ideal for a tax professional who thrives in a client-facing environment and has deep expertise in ASC 740 tax provision work. You'll serve as the firm's go-to specialist for tax provision engagements, while also supporting broader compliance efforts. The position can be structured as an individual contributor or leadership role depending on experience and career goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute tax provision engagements (ASC 740) across a multi-industry client portfolio
- Review and prepare quarterly and annual tax provisions, including deferred tax calculations and footnote disclosures
- Collaborate with audit teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Advise clients on tax accounting implications of business transactions and regulatory changes
- Support federal, state, and local tax compliance efforts as needed
- Maintain strong client relationships and provide strategic tax guidance
- Contribute to internal training and development initiatives for junior staff (if in leadership track)
- Stay current on tax law changes and accounting standards impacting provision work
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MS in Taxation preferred
- CPA or JD strongly preferred
- Minimum 6 years of progressive tax experience, with significant exposure to ASC 740
- Experience in public accounting or a client-facing advisory role
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. tax regulations and GAAP
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines effectively
