Trading – Grain Trader
Our client, an established trading house, is looking to add an experienced grain/protein trader to their team in Singapore. This is a great opportunity to f, and help develop, a growing team within an established house.
Responsibilities for role:
- The position is accountable for growing and developing marketing and distribution channels for agricultural products and managing price and foreign exchange risk
- Assists in developing strategies and plans for agricultural products
- Manages price and foreign exchange risk for agricultural products
- Manages customer relationships and product marketing
- Grow and develop marketing and distribution channels for agricultural products
- Participates and actively contributes to the global agricultural products trading team and works closely with other traders
- Coordinates logistics and execution of goods shipment
- Partly manages the purchasing function for the canola crush plant based in China
- Participates and actively contributes to the Proteins business unit strategies and risk profiles at the strategic, operational and marketing levels
Skills / Attributes required for the role:
- University Degree or Diploma in Agriculture or Commerce, with a minimum of 6 to 8 years progressively responsible experience in the international trading environment. A combination of education and experience will be considered
- Minimum of 5 years commodity trading preferably with at least 2 years of oilseed processing experience
- Knowledge of soybean and soybean meal trading
- Futures and options trading experience is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in decision making including considerable profit and loss responsibility
- Demonstrated negotiation skills and a proactive approach in building and maintaining relationships with international clients and trading partners
- Proven ability to work effectively within a virtual team environment
- Strong inter-personal skills
- Fluent both verbal and written, in English and Mandarin
