Portfolio Management/ Credit Risk

My client a top investment bank has an active headcount to hire a VP of trade portfolio management/ risk to join their London office. This within European trade finance.

The Role:

  • You will join a small team purely dedicated to the portfolio management of trade finance assets
  • Role involves leading the development and implementation of portfolio management structures across trade finance deals/ assessing the clients risk/ reward of transactions and working on the development of new trade products/ business strategies/ risk transfers
  • This is a relatively senior role and you will liaise closely with the Credit Risk committee/ Lending Commitment Committee and legal teams
  • In this role you will carry out monitoring of deals and transactions/ actively manage the balance sheet, develop tools and analytical methods for the portfolio
  • This is a technical/ structuring role which requires both a strong understanding of UK/ European trade finance transactions/ but also a strong understanding of credit risk/ portfolio risk appetite/ portfolio management
  • You will work as deputy head of the desk and have full responsibility for the team when the ED- Head of desk is away. You will also be expected to take on management responsibilities and train and educate junior staff

The Candidate:

  • Essential to have both skills and in depth understanding of Trade Finance and Credit Risk/ portfolio management/ portfolio analysis.
  • Essential to have experience of structuring trade finance assets/ analysing them and delivering risk reports/ portfolio analysis and valuations
  • Good knowledge of pricing methodologies/ capital/ Basel II/ and experience of structuring sell down/ funded and unfunded hedging deals
  • Successful candidate must demonstrate strong analytical skills in portfolio modelling and performance
  • This is a demanding role and requires solid experience of UK/ European trade finance deals- as well as strong credit/ portfolio and document skills and good experience of letters of credit/ invoice discounting but also good communication skills to interact with senior members of the bank from various teams
  • Good interpersonal skills/ good work ethic and ability to work in a flexible, innovate manner is important
