Senior Commodities Economist – Buy side

My client is looking to add a successful Commodities Economist to head up the Trading and Industrial Intelligence Unit working along-side senior management.
The role can be located in the Stockholm office or also potentially within Geneva Office therefore applicants from global locations are welcome to apply!

In order to apply for the position you must have covered Commodities (within Energy) previously and have held a position of responsibility. You should be able to manage a team and have an excellent academic background with a PHD in Economics or an MSc from a leading school.

You will be responsible for developing the firms view on macroeconomic fundamentals and trends both globally and regionally for the market areas. Together with your team, you will provide regular market commentary and take an active part in trading decisions. In addition, you will participate in our long-term scenario work and preparations for investment decisions. 70% of your macro economic views will go to the trading team and hence you will sit next to the team and work closely with them. The other part of your macro economic research will be for the Investment team who you meet with 3 times a week.

You must have experience within:-

  • Macroeconomic modeling within Energy Sectors
  • European focus
  • Managing a team
  • Macro economic views for trading team

This is an excellent opportunity to secure a senior role within a leading buy side firm. The current strategy and economics team have an excellent reputations and real interest in expanding their current remit. You will therefore be given substantial responsibility.

They expect you to have several years of experience in economic, commodity or fixed-income research and at least a M.Sc. degree in economics with an excellent academic record. You have a basic understanding of the energy and utility business and good communication and presentation skills. You are experienced in using statistical tools, and you are an experienced team leader. They also expect you to be able to travel frequently.

You will have the responsibility for generating and presenting the forecasts therefore excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
