German speaking Investment analyst

A leading Multi strategy fund are looking to add an investment strategist to their group in London. You will be responsible for formulating successful activist quity/long term investments Fund, working directly with the portfolio manager and partners of the fund.

Responsibilities will include :-

• Working on special situation/event-driven trades including business and balance sheet restructuring with explicit catalysts
• Conducted in-depth original research to identify investment opportunities
• Identify successful directional long/short trades across sectors
• Maintain constant interaction with portfolio companies` senior management and other shareholders to assess and drive progress against targets and to evaluate further business opportunities.
• Develop investment proposals for presentation to Investment Committee based on in-depth fundamental financial analysis, company visits, management meetings and sell side contacts.
• Due diligence and portfolio management responsibilities including the developed and execution of financial, operational, and/or strategic restructuring opportunities for investment targets.

Within this role you will be reporting directly to the senior partners and therefore be expected to demonstrate that you are able to work in a role with substantial responsibility.
Applicants currently performing a similar role, working as a private equity analyst or consulting within a major firm will be considered if you can demonstrate the following skills-:

Financial modelling – You will be required to build detailed and flexible financial models of turnaround plans, sometimes in collaboration with portfolio company staff and using management accounts.
Company valuation – You must have experience in applying intrinsic and relative valuation techniques.
Investment due diligence – You will at times be required to meet with senior management, attend onsite visits and conduct background research.
Quantitative screening – You must be able to develop excel based screening tools to identify investment opportunities based on operating performance, capital structure and relative valuations.
